This site is dedicated to the life and works of  artist,  Mardy Lemmons, who died at the age of 49, on the Day of the Dead, November 2,  2009.

Mardy wrote in his resume in 2008:

I was born in Landstuhl, Germany, in 1960. My father was in the U.S. Air Force and stationed in Germany, Maryland, and Texas, so our family moved around a lot before finally settling down in Amarillo when I was a teenager.

Later, I went to Amarillo College to earn a degree in commercial art; however, once in school, I made the decision to concentrate mostly on fine art. I’ve worked in the oil fields, loaded trucks for a grocery chain, and helped raise my four children while painting part-time and exhibiting my art in Amarillo, Austin, San Antonio, and other cities in Texas. Now that my children are adults, with the support of my wife, I am pursuing art on a full time basis.

Comment: The Bath  – 2009

On September 13, 2009,  Vivis  wrote  to Mardy about the latest  in his Frankenstein Series Paintings, The Bath:  I’m impressed and intrigued about the painting. I’m wondering why her eyes look that way….is she dead or just feeling lost and unloved?  It’s very moving, and yes, I agree with Debbie, a little disturbing; but for me, its the look (or vacant stare) in her eyes.  

Mardy  replied:  Yeah, I made it a point NOT to put any reflection in her eyes. Lifeless, depressed, or just “given up” , all the same results to your body.  Love you,  Mardy.
